Making a choiceThis week we did a new project, and I'm working on a masterpiece! It has a lot of trial and error, challenges, and is lots of fun. I used a source of inspiration, but I also had a few ideas of my own. I went through a lot of ideas and changing up ideas- but that's what happens when you do art! Back and forthI knew from the beginning that my medium was going to be chalk pastels. When deciding on what to make, that took a little bit longer to figure out. At first, I wanted to make a portrait of the Harry Potter cast. I was skimming through a book on how to draw people, and saw how to make pop art. I then wanted to make a pop art of myself. I also saw another self portrait that I could make of myself using collage technique with magazines, and I was conflicted with the two. They were both so awesome! After some more research though, I decided to make a pop art, not of myself though, instead of Mr. Nettles. Finally! For a while, I have been trying to figure out what my art style is. While doing this project, I have realized that I LOVE using the chalk pastels, and that my art style may be abstract art. In the future, I want to explore more ways to use chalk pastels, and make more artwork like this one.
